Eden

Hi My Name is Eden!
I am sure you have heard of Hurricane Harvey and the devastation it caused in Texas which is where I am from.  There were so many dogs that were found homeless and in order for the shelters to make room for them to be reunited with their owners, Jax’s Lab Rescue decided to have me brought to Pennsylvania so they could help find me my furever home.  I am really excited to be here and cannot wait to meet my new family.

This week I learned that I absolutely have a love hate relationship with squeaker toys. It started when my foster mom introduced me to this hedge hog that squealed everytime I would bite it. I didn’t understand the sound at first and I wasn’t sure if I liked it but it was one of those things that I couldn’t stop squeezing it with my mouth so I could hear the sound. So I decided to put an end to the craziness and bury it. Once I covered it back up with dirt I thought it would be a good idea to pounce on the dirt just to make sure the hedge hog was never coming back out. But when my front paws hit the dirt, I heard that squeal sound again. I couldn’t help myself but to dig it back up and make it my best friend. But foster mom made me give it a bath first because she said it’s not coming back in the house looking like that. I have to go because every day a new squeaker toy appears in the yard and I have to see what today has to offer. Until next time!

Love, liver snacks and lots of kisses

It has been three weeks since I came into my new foster home and let me tell you it has been amazing. I am learning new things every day. I needed to shed a few pounds (so they say) so I have lost 3 pounds so far and let me tell you, I feel better already. Since I am getting so much exercise, foster mom says I should lose another 5 lbs in no time. I am not severely over weight, just need to lose a few you know? I love to run off leash in the fenced in area and I get the zoomies and have so much fun playing with my new toys and chasing them. Foster mom takes me on long hikes on the property and my hunting instincts are showing. I am very interested in the small critters on the hike so foster mom thinks I probably shouldn’t be placed with cats. I love to run along the fence with other dogs and play with them. Foster mom will try and meet and greet in the very near future to see how it goes with does on my side of the fence. Overall I am very sweet and love affection from everyone. I will be available soon for adoption so keep checking back and see when!!

Eden is a very sweet affectionate girl. She is slowly adjusting to her new life here in the north. She is doing very well with her new schedule. She loves too see people outside she knows, her tail will go a mile a minute. She does not love sharing her home with other dogs so for now, we are looking for a home with no other dogs. Since we don’t know her past we are playing it safe and no small children under 12yo. She has no problem sharing all her love with humans and giving as many kisses as you will allow. Eden is currently in a temporary foster home and is looking for a foster home without other dogs and small children. She is doing well but needs to be able to have more freedom so we can find out what this adorable girl is all about.

Eden is getting much more relaxed being here. She is teaching me her need for slow introductions to everything, as well as time to adjust to change. When it’s too fast for her she shuts down and stops doing normal things such as going to the bathroom, drinking and eating. But she never stops loving attention. We have 4 acres and she has only been walking on about 3 of them. If we try to take her to fast she stops walking and tucks her tail. So her routine is, she gets no attention until she potties. We stay on the same 1/2 acre until she does. Once she potties then we throw a praise party and we go for a walk all over. It’s been working cause she has been hopping with joy on our walks. She is the sweetest little thing ever.

Over all she is doing very well, eating (1/2 cup dry, 2 Tablespoons canned, 2XD) and pooping regularly. Loves seeing people outside. She was getting about 2-3 hours of free roam a day.
